A goal of mine is to continuously stay updated with the new ways of technology and be able to incorporate these applications into the classroom. I also enjoy teaching my colleagues new ways of technology to make their lives easier. My ultimate goal is to integrate new applications within station rotation that excite children about learning.
Regarding my current mindset, I believe that I can truthfully say I am a constant combination of a fixed and growth mindset. I understand that many times my initial response may be more aligned to a fixed mindset, but after reflection and processing I'm able to re-direct my mindset to a growth mindset and understand that there may have been areas of weakness. Therefore, my mindset has not hindered me from being able to set forth achieving my goals.
After viewing the video resources, what stuck out to me in the video about what motivates us is the difference between autonomy and mastery. I was able to identify with the mastery perception of motivation. For example, every time my admin moved me to a new grade level my initial response would be upset that I have to "start all over". Now, my response is "Wherever they put me I'm going to succeed and shine bright". Being able to change my mindset has helped me to even have better results throughout the past few school years.
Failure is inevitable and necessary for growth. I must say I do tend not to want to fail, but I do realize that some of our best personal growth comes right after failure.
The UDL Framework is important. It directly correlates to differentiation in the classroom. We want to be able to reach all learning styles of the students within our class each year. Therefore, when it comes to the "what", "how", and "why"...I would suggest that all 3 are important in pursuing life goals. First, we must understand "what" is is we want to accomplish, and then we must determine the "how". How is it that we plan to accomplish this goal? Lastly, is our "why". If we do not understand WHY we want to accomplish this certain goal, then we will ultimately lose the motivation behind achieving the goal.
