In the Power of Words video, they initially focus on the fact that the man is blind. We see that his sign reads "I'm blind please help." strangers walked passed and many didn't have a reason to feel the need to help him monetarily. However, once the woman changed the words from "I'm blind please help." to "It's a beautiful day and I can't see it." it portrayed the same message with words that grabbed the emotional side of every human that walked passed. It was able to trigger an emotion that led to a thought to donate based on whatever feeling transpired once reading the new sign. It shows that you don't always have to be someone with many words, sometimes fewer words have a greater pull on a person's heart than a lengthy speech filled with facts.
I intend to make my call to action video short, direct, and relatable to students, teachers, and administrators. I want to target their heads and their hearts all at the same time so they understand the importance and urgency of transforming traditional teaching/learning methods in our education system. I believe I want to structure it with reflection, making people think about how they feel from day to day and why it is important to understand that students' emotions and socioeconomic status/home life alter their ability to learn effectively every day especially when solely given traditional didactic models. It is always said that students are the center of the education system and decisions are based on the needs of the students. Therefore, perhaps the incorporation of students' emotions and thoughts on traditional assessments and learning styles will tug at the hearts of other colleagues and the administration.
